Oh So Moist Orange Chocolate Cake

OMG! Just like its name states, this orange chocolate cake by Michele from CUISINE D’AMOUR (Check her Instagram account by clicking here) is so moist; it simply melts in your mouth!



  • 5 eggs
  • 1/5 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • Zest of 3 oranges
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 and 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder

Chocolate ganache

  • 500 g semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.

Grease a cake pan and sprinkle well with cacao powder to completely hide the grease, remove the excess by turning the mold upside down.


In a shallow bowl, start by mixing all dry ingredients together except for the sugar (flour, cacao, salt, baking powder) set aside.

In another bowl, mix very well eggs and sugar; add in the vanilla extract, orange juice, and oil.

Fold in the freshly grated orange and lemon zest for a maximum of flavor (at this stage do not overmix).

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean (about 40 minutes).

Prepare the ganache, bring the heavy cream to a simmer, remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chunks (or chips).

Let sit for 5 minutes, and then swirl the chocolate to combine and pour it over the warm cake! Heaven!
